**About us**

The Youth Justice Team provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on youth justice supervised orders. The team promotes the personal development of young people and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.

**About the role**

As a Court Advice Worker you will work with young people who have complex needs and present with behaviours that are challenging and difficult to manage. This will include working with young people who are in custody in Youth Justice Centres to assist in their planning for release, which includes their reintegration into the community. As Court Advice Worker you will be required to provide support to your team leader to manage the team and provide assistance to other Youth Justice Staff members and coverage during planned and unplanned leave.

The responsibilities of this role include but not limited to: supporting clients by providing holistic and comprehensive services to increase their opportunities of enhancing their quality of life, leading supervisions and case management of young people, reviewing client service plans and implementing strategies that address offending behaviour and encourage young people to comply with statutory orders.

This role will be based at the 2 courts at 233 William Street and 477 Little Lonsdale Street in Melbourne.

**Please note there are two fixed term positions available**:

- 1x fixed term to 25 October 2025
- 1x fixed term to 1 September 2026

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- advanced understanding of the Youth Justice system and its underlying philosophies
- understanding of the principles of case management and case work
- strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
- good problem solving skills
- demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

**Qualifications**
- A Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable.
- A full driver's licence is required due to the need to travel across the division as required.
- A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
