**Provisional Fellow - Maternal Fetal Medicine**

The Maternity and Gynaecology Department at John Hunter Hospital provides both local and tertiary obstetrics and gynaecology services to families in the Hunter New England and surrounding areas. The Department offers a diverse range of care options, including a number of continuity of care models in both high and low risk pregnancies. Newcastle has all the benefits of a large city while having a costal, regional location.

To provide effective obstetric and gynaecological services to the patients of the Hunter New England Local District, whilst undertaking learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing to the Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).

**What you'll be doing**
- To provide effective obstetric services to the patients of the Hunter New England Local District, whilst undertaking learning and professional development activities with the aim of progressing to the Fellowship of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) and/or a Certificate in MFM. This is a MFM subspecialty RANZCOG approved training position and provides opportunities to gain experience and skills across all areas of MFM. The successful applicant will ideally be an accredited RANZCOG CMFM subspecialty trainee (year 1-3).

The MFM unit provides care for women with complex pregnancies, both severe maternal disease and fetal disorders including fetal therapy. It is an integral part of a larger team including neonatology, genetics, paediatric surgery, and subspecialty medical disciplines. There are excellent opportunities for clinical and basic research.

The Provisional Fellow in MFM role will satisfy the RANZCOG Advanced Obstetrics Advanced Training Module (ATM) and/or the Essential O&G ATM, as well as the opportunity to progress towards a DDU qualification. The Provisional Fellow takes a leadership role in ward rounds and management of complex antenatal or postpartum inpatients. They participate fully in the after-hours rosters covering both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The role includes a contribution to daytime Birth Suite, caesarean lists, initial maternity assessment and planning visits, and complex medical antenatal clinic coverage.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
- Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent communication, clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Demonstrated advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology/Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
