**About the Department for Correctional Services**
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. **Duties**
- Responsible and accountable for the development, management, and review of documentation specific to Offender Rehabilitation Services in collaboration with management and clinical staff to ensure the consistent delivery of rehabilitation programs and services across the agency.
- Undertake research and investigations specific to the development, implementation, and evaluation of rehabilitation programs with limited direction,
- Contribute to the development and implementation of specialist Rehabilitation Programs, including the creation of program manuals, guidelines, and processes for new rehabilitation initiatives.
- Utilise databases to develop, implement and manage processes for data collection and reporting of rehabilitation activity across the department in relation to the department's Key Performance Indicators.
- Liaise with the Rehabilitation Programs and Intervention teams to ensure that sound data collection and recording practices are established and maintained to enable evaluation and ensure compliance.
- Provide expert advice to senior management on the analysis of data, policies, projects and other trends and information relevant to the delivery of offender rehabilitation services, including making recommendations to improve business processes.
- Undertake research and investigations into complex issues and assist in developing consistent policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide expert advice in relation to queries about the provision of rehabilitation programs.
- Participate in Departmental and external committees as required.
- Assist the Team Leader of Program Services Unit in the timely and effective delivery of administrative and program support services such as but not limited to:
- Facilitating the maintenance of rehabilitation program waitlists
- Coordinating advice and information for DCS committees
- Supporting contract management activities
- Responsible for taking reasonable care for their own and others' health and safety and not adversely affecting the health and safety of others.
- Responsible for early notification and reporting of workplace hazards, incidents and injuries.
**Special Conditions**
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History.
- A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.
- A flexible approach to working hours is required.
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight.
**Requirements**:
- Skills and ability relevant to the planning, management and conduct of strategic public policy development projects and/or significant experience relating to the provision of rehabilitation programs in criminal justice or human services settings.
- Strong writing skills relevant to the creation of strategic process and policy documents to support professional practice within the Department for Correctional Services,
- Conceptual research skills relevant to the implementation of strategic projects specific to the development, implementation, and evaluation of rehabilitation programs.
- A high level of problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, including the ability to think laterally and practically.
- Knowledge and ability in the management of information including:
- identification of information requirements
- use of data collection and management systems
- analysis and reporting of data trends related to agency key performance indicators
- Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office software including the creation and maintenance of databases.
