**About the role**

Mater Speech Pathology and Audiology Department is recruiting a highly experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Paediatric Speech Pathology Clinical Team Lead to jointly lead our paediatric team during a period of staff shortage.

The position is available on a temporary, part time basis as a part of a job share arrangement. This is a 2-month contract, 3 days a week.

**Salary range: HP Level 4** plus 11.5% superannuation and**access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900** +**access to many staff benefits

**What you’ll be doing**

This role will be responsible for the joint leadership and delivery of Speech Pathology clinical services in varied and complex areas including neonatal, infant and paediatric inpatients of the Mater Mother’s Hospital (MMH) and Mater Mother’s Private Hospital (MMPH) and Mater Children’s Private Hospital (MCPH) as well as private paediatric outpatient services.

**About you**
- Possess a high level of clinical knowledge and decision-making to design and implement appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions to paediatric and neonatal patients of varying levels of complexity
- Deliver high level speech pathology clinical and consultancy services commensurate with knowledge and skill to assess, diagnose and provide intervention for neonates, infants and children with complex feeding/swallowing and communication disorders
- Integrate high level knowledge of contemporary evidence-based clinical and instrumental assessment procedures and intervention approaches to independently analyse and interpret clinical measures
- Demonstrate experience working with patients in the following clinical areas:

- Neonatology across the continuum of care
- Paediatric dysphagia resulting from premature birth, acquired brain injury, cleft lip and palate, cardiac and respiratory disorders, neurological impairment and gastrointestinal disorders
- Work closely and effectively as a member of the speech pathology and multidisciplinary teams to provide speech pathology assessment and treatment to infants and children in an acute hospital setting within an evidence-based framework.
- Non-clinical but essential responsibilities of this role include:

- Contributing to the coordination and oversight of supervision and education to paediatric speech pathologists, allied health assistants and students (if required) through regular professional supervision (including competency training) and training
- Providing high level clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, service managers and other stakeholders regarding speech pathology service delivery and the development and improvement of clinical services.
- Collaboratively identifying, developing and implementing contemporary, dynamic and evidence-based paediatric speech pathology (and multi-disciplinary) clinical practices, procedures and protocols across the inpatient and outpatient setting (within private and public sectors)
- Collaborating with colleagues to monitor and report on paediatric speech pathology clinical practices, resources, activity and outcomes to initiate, plan and jointly lead to quality improvement projects and research initiatives that will enhance service and patient outcomes.
