The Strong Community - Aboriginal Resilient Kids program has been designed to support Aboriginal children and young people aged from 8-18 years in the Northern Rivers region who have been impacted by the devastating flood events of 2022.

The program will provide Culturally Sensitive Youth Mental Health Support and Case management with a flexible approach to clinical intervention, offering primarily face-to-face, placed-based services or via assertive/mobile community outreach.

**Your Opportunity**

The role will involve significant travel, offering outreach services to young Aboriginal people. It involves working with children and young people, providing mental health support through a cultural lens. You will manage a clinical caseload of mainly young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander female clients, provide consultation and linkage to other services, and engage with local communities to increase program awareness.

This is a full time, fixed term opportunity until 11 July 2025 (with possible extension). The position pays between $43.08 and $51.51 per hour depending on experience. Lives Lived Well also offer excellent salary packaging options up to $15,900 per year, plus entertainment and accommodation benefits.

To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a enuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

**About You**

Whether you have an established career or are a new graduate, you will be excited to work in the youth mental health sector supporting predominantly First Nations young women, be proactive and dedicated, and looking for your next exciting challenge. Your ability to think on your feet and work effectively in a dynamic, agile environment will be coupled with:

- Experience in caseload management and providing recovery-orientated clinical care
- A background working with young female clients (ages from 8 to 18)
- Delivery of evidence-based interventions in the areas of youth mental health via group or individual counselling
- An understanding of the issues that are prevalent for young Aboriginal women in today’s society and the impacts on their social and emotional wellbeing.
- Great driving skills and a high level of comfort with daily travel and working independently.
- Local knowledge of the Northern Rivers Region with a good understanding of the communities.
- Ability to relate to a cohort of young Aboriginal female clients in a relevant, youth-friendly, and appropriate manner
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and capability to present at team meetings and case reviews
- Strong computer skills including use of a CRM, uploading case notes and client documentationHighly collaborative, solutions-focused and passionate about process improvements - we welcome ideas and suggestions to make things better

Holding a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or Counselling, Community Services, Human Services, or similar you will also have a current, clean Australian Drivers Licence and be eligible for a WWCC (NSW).
