**About the role**:
How do we mathematically optimise groundwater?
How do we reach net zero emissions in a water management environment demanding more energy?
These are questions that our Data & Analytics team are currently working on. Can you help them find the answer?
The primary goal of the Principal - DataOps role is to help business intelligence, data science, advanced analytics and data governance teams across the business be more effective and productive with their data and analytics initiatives. This is achieved by leading the development, operation and provisioning of data, systems, tools and standards that leverage the intersection between modern software engineering, DevOps, data science and data engineering practices.
You’ll be part of a team that plays a vital role that enables Water Corporation to support future generations. Help us work towards our sustainability goals by building highly automated, reliable and hyper productive end to end organisational systems, ensuring teams have the data and supporting analytics capabilities they need.
**What the role will involve**:
- Lead and develop the DataOps technical strategy and capability roadmap for the Data & Analytics Business Unit in conjunction with architecture SME’s.
- Own and govern Data Engineering and Machine Learning (ML) Engineering standards and policies that enable a consistent approach and create an economy of learning.
- Lead and assure the technical design, development and implementation of our data management framework that ensures quality datasets are discoverable, secure, trusted and understood by data scientists, ML engineers, BI engineers and analysts across the business.
- Lead and assure the technical design, development and implementation of source code helper libraries, components, utilities and frameworks that advance our DevOps practices within the data, business intelligence and advanced analytics domain.
- Provide training, mentoring and objective advice to ITG and business users to ensure the optimal benefit realisation of the DataOps capability.
**Key skills and experience**:
You will have a degree in a relevant discipline (eg. Business Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, etc.) and substantial experience in commercial software development and skilled in the use of Python. You’ll have gained experience with data management platforms and experience building solutions using AWS throughout your software or data engineering career.
You’ll also have experience with machine learning engineering / operations.
