Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, UGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business currently have an opportunity for a **Mechanical Fitter **to join our rollingstock maintenance team based at our facility in **Keswick**. This role will be offered on a permanent basis commencing late March. This role will be part of a rotating shift roster which will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
**About the role**
- Perform mechanical related tasks such as overhaul, installation and fit out of mechanical equipment.
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled repairs according to trade knowledge and training.
- Undertake fault finding and troubleshooting of routine vehicle problems.
- Identify and repair rail carriage faults, including but not limited to carriage air brakes, bogies, under carriage, inter-carriage equipment and EVAC toilet system.
- Inspect and interpret drawings and specifications and determine method of manufacture and standards as required
- Ensure active involvement in 5S activities Lean Manufacturing.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Use a range of machinery, hand tools and welding equipment.
- Select the appropriate materials, methods, equipment, and tools necessary to complete the job
- Perform servicing, fault finding and troubleshooting tasks; this work will at times be complex in nature and required to be completed to meet tight scheduling deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to maintain a safe work environment following 5S principles.
- Follow rail safety and environmental requirements as directed by supervisors and operations manager.
- Requisitions materials/components to the level of their delegation.
- Booking out materials and components from the APMC store according to the assigned jobs.
- Carry out any other relevant tasks assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
**About You**
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Previous work experience in the rail industry is desirable
- High level of measuring skills and eye for detail and quality standards
- Strong communication skills. Both oral and written
- Innovated and able to resolve routine, warranty quality, maintenance, and servicing problems.
