The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Finance and Procurement Advisor to provide a critical role at Western Plains Correctional Centre.

**About the Business Unit**

Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care. Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities.

**Abut the Role**

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Finance and Procurement the Finance and Procurement Advisor will be responsible for supporting all activities that relate to finances and procurement activities for the facility. This includes prison financial transactions, the completion of monthly financial reporting and required process and managing end to end procurement activities.

As the Finance and Procurement Advisor, some of your duties will include:

- Providing authoritative and accurate advice to staff on key budget and financial management practices in compliance with operating procedures.
- Preparing tools and information to assist staff to comply with financial management processes.
- Participating in the facility's financial management obligations through budget analysis activity, financial reconciliation and required reporting.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Knowledge of legislation, policies and processes related to government accounting and procurement preferably within a state government environment (or similar).
- Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of financial and budget resource management.

**Qualifications**
- A qualification in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance and/or commensurate experience is highly regarded.
