The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced VCE VET Hospitality and Commercial Cookery Teacher (10-12) to join our dynamic team in 2025. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of hospitality professionals while contributing to the ongoing development of MLC’s outstanding Hospitality and Cookery program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the back-of-house operations in MLC’s on-campus training Restaurant and Café, including food safety compliance, ordering, preparation, storage, and menu planning.
- Support and enhance the Year 10 Hospitality elective, ensuring a sequential and engaging learning experience.
- Conduct VET Hospitality Audits as required by MLC, VCAA, and/or VQRA.
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons, integrating innovative and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents through MLC’s Continuous Reporting system.
- Use data to assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Foster strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Participate in co-curricular activities, particularly House events.
- Contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional learning initiatives.
- Attend parent-teacher-student conferences and information evenings as required.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training (or equivalent).
- Industry experience in a back-of-house Chef role.
- Current Food Safety Qualifications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student learning and wellbeing.
- Effective planning and organisational skills.
- Competence in technology-enhanced learning environments.
- Professionalism and adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Qualifications and expertise in VCE VET Hospitality training packages.
- Ability to teach Food Studies (desirable).
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Commitment to Child Safety Standards and adherence to all College policies.
