Role Statement

**VPS 3.2**:$89,292 per annum + 12% superannuation**

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Media and Public Affairs Coordinator to develop and deliver publicity campaigns that support the NGV’s communications, public relations and audience engagement strategies.

This role will hold responsibility for media and publicity campaigns including pitching, drafting media materials and organising media events for NGV’s exhibitions and programs, in association with the Senior Publicist and Associate Director, Media and Public Affairs.

**ABOUT THE POSITION**:
In collaboration with the Senior Publicist, you will be developing and executing publicity and content campaigns that positively promote NGV’s exhibitions, major events, programs, festivals and activities. Other key responsibilities include:

- Identifying, developing and maintaining key relationships with local, national and international media that enhance the promotion of NGV’s exhibitions and programs.
- Working closely with the Senior Publicist, and the Marketing and Corporate Partnerships teams to support the strategic goals of our corporate partners by executing media and content campaigns.
- Liaising with and maintaining regular contact with internal and external stakeholders including government stakeholders, Creative Victoria and Visit Victoria, media and tourism partners, national and international museum partners, suppliers, copyright agencies and internal departments, to ensure relevant input is received for promotional and publicity activities and a coordinated approach to communication activities is achieved.
- Contributing to reports regarding the activities of the Media and Public Affairs department and providing administration and logístical support in relation to publicity and media activities.

To be successful, you will have tertiary qualification in communications or public relations with demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of media and communication strategies in the corporate, marketing and public affairs environments coupled with excellent creative writing and editorial skills.

You can confidently convey ideas and information in a clear and interesting way, understand and meet the needs of target audiences and welcome constructive feedback. You prepare media releases, key messages, speeches, letters and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language, ensuring written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose. You can provide evidence of a wide range of media contacts, take concrete steps to add value for the stakeholder and monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction.
