Role is specific to a residential care facility for young people 15-18.
The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
Landsdale House is a residential unit providing residential care to children in the care of the CEO of CPFS, the purpose of the program/service is to provide safe supportive and secure accommodation to young people at risk.
We provide:
- Life skills, social skills and personal health development.
- Homework and education support, including numeracy and literacy skills.
- Work experience and job search training.
- Recreation, leisure and cultural activities.
- Outdoor wilderness experiences and activities.
- Strong emphasis upon improved family relationships, where possible
We are currently seeking a values-driven Youth Worker to provide ongoing care to young people aged 15-18 years in a structured group living environment. This position requires shift work including sleep over.
You will successfully
- Build effective relationships with young people and key stakeholders to enhance outcomes for young people facing homelessness
- Encourage self-determination and participation of each individual
- Encourage connection to service, and the wider community
- Develop individual case plans in collaboration with clients and include a range of interventions that clearly address the needs of the client
- Work within the identified support systems and alongside stakeholders to enhance outcomes for young people
You will have
- Certificate IV in Youth Work or Community Service Degree, or have significant relevant experience working with youth (essential)
- Experience and resilience in working with complex clients presenting with challenging behaviours
- Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
- A current and valid WA Drivers Licence
- A current and valid Working with Children Check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people,
- people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Intersex
- people with a culturally or linguistically diverse background
