**Position Description Events and Engagement Support Officer**
February 2025**

**Purpose**

The Events and Engagement Support Officer provides essential administrative, logístical, and
promotional support to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of Council-run and
supported events, as well as community engagement activities. This role enhances the
team's capacity by assisting with event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and
marketing support, including content creation. By supporting both operational and
administrative functions, the position contributes to the successful delivery of community
events and engagement initiatives at the City of Marion.

**Key Deliverables**
- Provide administrative support for event planning and delivery.
- Coordinate event logistics, permits, supplier coordination, and risk management.
- Support on-site event operations, including setup, pack-down, and stakeholder

coordination.
- Develop and implement social media content to promote events and engagement

activities.
- Develop marketing collateral, content for websites, newsletters, and promotional

materials.
- Provide support for engagement events, including setup, participant interaction, and

data collection.
- Coordinate door-knocking activities to gather community feedback and raise

awareness of projects.
- Manage administrative functions. Including invoicing and supplier liaison.
- Report on post-event evaluations and reporting

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.

- Social media and digital content creation experience.
- Enthusiasm for community engagement and event coordination.

**Position Description Events and Engagement Support Officer**

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Experience in events, marketing, communications, or community engagement.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools.
- Experience working in local government or community-based roles (desirable).

**Standard conditions**
- Satisfactory completion of a National Police Clearance (will be arranged by the City of

Marion)
- Satisfactory completion of applicable Medical Assessment (will be arranged by the

City of Marion)
- Must be either an Australian resident or possess the legal right to work in Australia,

with the ability to provide documentation of a valid work visa.
- Comply with existing Work, Health and Safety legislation and regulation obligations and
- Embrace ethical and moral behavior and report any suspected instances of fraud

and/or corruption in accordance with Fraud and Corruption Management and the
Code of Conduct.
- Adhere to the City of Marion Values.
- The incumbent will perform other duties as required.
