Viva Energy’s Geelong Refinery employs around 700 people and supplies over 50 percent of Victoria’s and 10 percent of Australia’s fuel.

The refinery can process up to 120,000 barrels of oil per day, manufacturing petrol, diesel, LPG, jet fuel, avgas, bitumen, specialty solvents for a wide range of industries. We now have a great opportunity for a dual trade **Instrument/Electrical Technician** to join the team for a **12-month Fixed Term contract**.

In this role, as a Dual Trade Technician, you will work within the Engineering Services group at the Geelong Refinery, working on a diverse range of instrument and electrical equipment, working within Viva Energy Australia’s safe working procedures and practices.

Reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Services Lead, you will:

- Conduct assessment, overhaul and repair works on various process instrumentation and electrical equipment.
- Perform High and Low Voltage switching.
- Maintain and modify our DCS and PLC systems.
- Work within our computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to document maintenance history.

This role includes working extended hours and responding to after hour’s call-ins, as required to support critical business activities.

**Qualifications**:
**About you**
- Dual Trade qualified Instrument Technician/ Electrician.
- ‘A’ Grade Electrician/ Unrestricted Electrical License.
- Understanding of and ability to interrogate process control and safety instrumentation.
- Hazardous Area wiring, maintenance, and installation (EEHA).
- Major Hazard Facility / Petro Chemical Industry experience.
- Literacy in computer maintenance management systems.
- Highly competent and able to plan and manage your time.
- Comfortable working to deadlines and changing priorities.
- Able to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent communicator and problem solver able to work with other work groups such as operations, engineering, and other trades.
- Comfortable making decisions, using your judgement and experience to find the best solution.
- Be fully compliant with safety and willing to stop and seek out help if your work cannot be performed safely.

The following skills and experience would be highly regarded:

- Analyzer / Gas chromograph experience.
- Swagelok tube fitting training and experience.
- High Voltage Operators Certificate and experience.
