We are recruiting a Geologist - Mine for the Leading Gold Mining Company in Australia - Perth Principle Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Geologist - Mine,
The Geologist - Mine is responsible for safely collecting primary geological information and performing underground geological activities required to facilitate the safe, efficient and cost-effective extraction and growth of the mineral reserve.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology, preferably with a post graduate qualification, e.g. Honors.

Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence

Desired Experience & Competencies

Minimum 3 years relevant experience in the mining industry.

Demonstrated ability to learn, set achievable goals and safely achieve tasks.

Ability to work within a team.

Intermediate computer literacy with Microsoft Office and Vulcan software.

Good communication skills - clear, relevant and concise.

Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks.

Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.

St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).

Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations

Specific Role Requirements

Perform geological mapping and sampling of all development to allow evaluation of the ore bodies exposed within the underground excavations as guided by the Senior Geologist - Mine and mine schedule.

Provide direction for each face of the underground development headings based on a thorough investigation of, and understanding of, the information available including the geology exposed in the excavation as well as any other relevant information (drill hits, mapping of levels above and below and resource models) so as to achieve the most efficient access to and exposure of the ore bodies for extraction.

Update and interpret the level plans as part of the development mapping cycle including interpreting the structures in light of the new information collected in the mapping.

Perform geological checks of all headings where there is some uncertainty of whether ore is present in the broken rock and clearly communicate the results to Mine Control and the production personnel so that the broken rock can be treated appropriately as ore or waste.

Adhere to all procedures in the collection of data to ensure the highest quality of data is generated in the safest manner both for mapping, sampling and other operational and tasks executed expected of the position.

Capture all relevant data from the shift into the appropriate data storage systems (electronic and written) before leaving the mine at the end of each shift. This includes downloading and filing face photographs.

Clearly communicate all relevant information at handovers, both on a daily basis and for the weekly shift handover, both verbally and in written/electronic formats.

Plan time so that maximum use is made of shift crossovers, when additional personnel are on site, to perform development mapping and eliminate backlogs to set up incoming swing for success.

Do core logging as and when required and perform end-of-hole checks on diamond drill rigs as required targeting no delays and assist with drill site inspections when requested to help operate as an efficient and effective team.

Consciously look for and identify opportunity structures underground. Interpret, mark up, and wall map these structures and get survey to pick them up. Pass on the information about these structures to the Senior Geologist - Mine for follow-up work.

Actively progress the safety culture at the mine by participating in and promoting safety initiatives (including attendance at safety meetings) and by performing drill rig and assay lab audits and other inspections or safety tasks as required.

Provide guidance to the Field Assistant on your shift as to the work that you require them to perform and contribute to the safe and efficient use of their time.

Perform all general and reasonable tasks as instructed by the Senior Geologist - Mine, Geology Superintendent and Chief Geologist and follow the SLAM process in all instances - especially in new tasks or when unsure.
