Tyre Shop Staff

**Position Summary**

**Tyre Fitter** - Balances, installs, repairs, and rotates tyres. Assists with tyre sales when necessary. Answers member questions and makes recommendations on tyres. Stocks tyres in the service area. Follows proper safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times while contributing to a smooth flow of members through the Tyre Centre.

**Tyre Supervisor** - Supervises and participates in the daily operations of the Tyre Centre. Implements and upholds proper Tyre Centre and general safety procedures and standards. Maintains courteous member service at all times while monitoring a smooth flow of members in and out of the Tyre Centre.

**Job Duties/Essential Functions**

**Tyre Fitter**:

- Locates member car in Tyre Centre area of lot and lists any prior body damage on service order
- Drives member vehicle into install bay, onto hydraulic hoist and sets brake
- Removes wheel using impact gun
- Rolls wheel to mounting machine, removes tyre from wheel
- Attaches new valve stem, mounts new tyre on wheel, fills tyre to appropriate air pressure
- Operates automatic balance machine to get reading of proper weight and placement to balance wheel
- Attaches lead weights to rims with lead weight hammer
- Re-attaches wheels to auto using impact gun and hand torque wrench according to Tyre Centre procedures
- Alerts manager/supervisor to complete 9-point check and authorise vehicle release
- Parks member automobile in car park and returns invoice and keys to sales desk
- Performs second torque check after manager/supervisor on tyres installed by others
- Repairs flat tyres for members
- Cleans install area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping
- Assists members in determining tyre needs, answers questions and makes product recommendations
- Sells tyres using persuasive skills and product knowledge and ring up orders
- Invoices tyre purchases and install/repair services
- Loads tyres on dolly and transfers to install area
- Receives accurate payment, makes change, process credit and debit charges, gives out receipt and submits order according to proper procedures for paperwork and performance of duties
- Calculate refund amount for warranty returns of tyres and auto batteries
- Communicates with Tyre Centre manager, Buyers, Receiving Department and Inventory Auditors regarding special orders, quantity, status, price, delivery, promotion of merchandise
- Stocks tyres in sales area in accordance with Tyre Centre managers merchandising plan
- Follows all safety procedures and guidelines

**Tyre Supervisor**:

- Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Tyre Centre personnel
- Provides feedback to promote teamwork and accountability among employees
- Interactively monitors employee performance and participates in performance reviews as needed
- Works with the Tyre Centre manager in employee staffing and maintenance; interviewing, hiring, and reviewing
- Provides recommendations for resolving personnel issues and training
- Writes, reviews, and adjusts Tyre Centre schedules and coordinates employee lunches and breaks
- Implements and upholds proper Tyre Centre and general safety procedures and standards
- Assists members with purchasing tyres and writes tyre purchase and service invoices
- Answers questions, makes recommendations, and provides prompt and courteous member service
- Calculates refund amounts for warranty returns of tyres and auto batteries and approves product refunds
- Performs Tyre Centre services as needed, including installing, filling, and balancing tyres
- Assists the Tyre Centre manager in addressing Tyre Centre budge, training, staffing, supply order, and scheduling needs
- Performs torque wrench certification testing monthly
- Communicates with the Tyre Centre manager, Receiving Department, Buyers, and Inventory Auditors regarding orders, quantities, statuses, prices, deliveries, and promotions of merchandise
- Coordinates and performs preventative maintenance and arranges repairs for machinery and equipment
- Coordinates and participates in cleaning and monitors the cleanliness of the sales area and shop
- Performs the opening and closing procedures as outlined in the Tyre Centre Forms
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides and makes certain prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers

**Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery**
- Phone, computer, calculator, cash register, member automobile, balancer, torque wrench, dolly, mounter, impact gun, hydraulic hoist and power jack

Education/Training:

- High School Certificate or higher; or Trade qualification

Licenses/Certifications:

- Certificate II in Tyre Fitting
- Tyre Certification Test (must pass)
- Current unrestricted Driver Licence

Experience/Skills:

- Mechanical aptitude and ability, tyre or comparable experience
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience
- Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400
