Caseworker
Why this role matters
The Doorways program provides person centred care to community members experiencing financial or other forms of hardship through the provision of financial and material emergency relief. Case management is provided at some of the Doorways sites to engage people through early intervention as well as address long term disadvantage to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate financial hardship. Our practitioners are strength based and trauma informed in their practice to build individual capacity, resilience and wellbeing.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Case Worker who will be responsible and accountable for the delivering a holistic and integrated range of support services, in line with the ‘Doorways’ model of service; for people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, experiencing social or physical poverty, marginalisation or social exclusion, which includes access to emergency relief assistance and other support services.
You will successfully
- Provide a holistic case work service to people experiencing financial hardship
- Provide the program service within the boundaries of qualifications and experience under the Doorways Delivery Model and under the direction of the area Regional Manager.
- Provide a prevention and early intervention response to people in need, in an effort to prevent the initial crisis escalating out of control and further entrenching them in poverty and disadvantage.
- Development of individual case plans in collaboration with clients.
- Develop holistic and achievable options with clients enabling them to best deal with their situations
- Work along side volunteers to assist with the service delivery
- To maintain accurate, up-to-date client records and data in accordance with TSA standards and procedures using TSA information systems.
- To ensure information exchange occurs according to appropriate legislation and policy.
- Rooms and facilities are regularly maintained to minimise accidents and incidents and to promote a welcome, safe and supported environment.
- Equipment is regularly checked and maintained.
- Security, safety and evacuation protocols are maintained.
- An understanding of minimising risk in the workplace and adherence to WHS requirements.
- To reflect the mission values of The Salvation Army in daily practice, including spiritual, physical and emotional care.
- To abide by TSA policies and procedures.
- To abide by state government standards and other relevant legislation including but not limited to service contract requirements, WHS legislation, privacy and consent, integrity checks.
- Ability to work as a team member in a diverse community services setting.
- Participate in quality improvement reviews, accreditation and team meetings.
- Promote TSA activities and programs to clients and support clients to attend TSA activities.
- Promote and support clients to engage with the Corps Officers.
- To complete all TSA training requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of people from a range of diverse backgrounds including the general public TSA, government and non-government departments and the public.
You will have
- Relevant tertiary degree with relevant experience or diploma with relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 1-year experience in case management
- Knowledge with client advocacy and working in partnership with others.
- National police record check.
- Current WA Drivers licence.
- Current WWC
