**About the role**
The Wellbeing and Social Policy Officer will support and advise on wellbeing and social policy initiatives, focusing on the development, implementation, and review of the Council’s municipal public health and wellbeing planning as part of the new integrated Glen Eira Council Plan and Community Wellbeing Plan 2025-29. The role also involves assisting with community engagement and addressing issues like gender equality, community safety, social housing, and health and wellbeing.
- Other responsibilities include:_
- Build partnerships with external organisations, including government bodies, not-for-profit organisations, and community groups, to implement the Council’s wellbeing and social policy commitments.
- Support the development of Council’s response to issues raised from the community including researching, reviewing and responding to initiatives, plans and policies on key social issues.
- Support development, review and reporting and implement deliverables from Council plans and strategies in accordance with identified priorities.

**About you**
You are a passionate and dedicated professional with a strong commitment to promoting community wellbeing. With a keen focus on developing and driving wellbeing and social policy initiatives, you possess excellent analytical and policy development skills.
Your strong communication skills will help you effectively engage with various stakeholders, including government bodies, not-for-profit organisations and community groups.

The following is also required:

- A tertiary qualification in the social sciences, health promotion or community development disciplines with some relevant experience or lesser qualification with substantial experience.
- Well-developed written and verbal communications skills.
- Experience in researching, developing, analysing, implementing and reviewing social policy, preferably in a local government setting.
- Experience in partnership development and stakeholder engagement, including the ability to support and inform shared positions and advocacy approaches.
