Banyule Community Health is looking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled Health Promotion Officer with community development and evaluation skills to work on the Building Bridges Project
- a mental health promotion project with the Somali Australian community in West Heidelberg. This is a great opportunity to work in a professional and supportive team-based environment alongside other experienced health promotion officers.
**_ Your motivation, interpersonal skills, and expertise as a Health Promotion Officer will see you excel in this role as you:_**
- Lead the implementation, evaluation and reporting for the Building Bridges Project to promote mental health and wellbeing within the Somali Australian community.
- Recruit, facilitate and support a team of young people to develop and deliver youth-led activities in their community, focusing on mental wellbeing.
- Create, deliver and/or support a series of presentations for the Somali Australian community on mental health and capacity building for professionals on cultural competency.
- Collaborate effectively with other partner organisations and community.
**_ What you will need: _**
- A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. community development, health promotion, public health, social or health sciences or equivalent experience
- Highly developed interpersonal and community skills
- Experience working with young people
- Developed skills in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with people who live with trauma and/or disadvantage
- A proven track record in planning and evaluating health promotion projects
- Creative, energetic and committed to the principles of health promotion
