**The Position**
**St John of John of God Murdoch** has a vacancy for an experienced
- **Gardener/Handyman** to join the team.
- In this role you will ensure the grounds are a safe, comfortable and attractive environment and assist with maintenance and engineering services, to ensure the complex is maintained to a safe standard.
- You will also be required to oversee specialist gardening works such as weed and pest control spraying, lawn fertilising and garden bed replanting and mulching.

- The position will be offered on a permanent full time basis of 76 hours per fortnight.

- Be able to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care
- Be able to legally work in Australia (Citizen or Permanent resident or suitable work Visa)
- Previous experience as Groundsman / Gardener / Handyman
- Cert II or III in Horticultural or similar qualification.
- 4 years + experience in similar role.
- Be experienced in all aspects of garden and grounds maintenance, specifically with respect to a large commercial site.
- Passionate about garden, grounds and fit to work in an outdoor environment involving considerable walking
- Be experienced in all aspects of reticulation system maintenance and operation.
- Be experienced and qualified where necessary in the safe operation of typical grounds and garden hand tools and powered equipment.
- Have the ability to work in a team environment
- Have the ability to be able to communicate with the other caregivers to understand their requests and/or problems that they experience with the services or facilities of the Hospital.
- Be able to work in outdoor areas and be experienced with managing the associated hazards.
- Be able to demonstrate recent experience in safe working practices.
- Be a self-driven, dynamic and result oriented person who can demonstrate continuous self-improvement and good time management.
- Possess a good, positive, 'can do' attitude, as you will be expected to get involved with working with the other onsite trades.
- Be capable of walking considerable distances.
- Be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
- Required to work some overtime as may be necessary with other maintenance caregivers to attend to breakdowns or preventative maintenance.
- Availability to work after hours if required to attend any major breakdowns.
