- Remuneration starting from $78,446 - $88,017 plus superannuation
- Four temporary full-time roles available within the Litigation Team and four temporary full time roles available within the Legislation and Legal Advice Team. All the temporary roles will be for up to 2 years. (This process may be used to fill further roles as they become available in the future in both the Litigation Branch and Legislation and Legal Advice Branch)
- Roles based in Parramatta / Flexible work arrangements and use of CBD satellite office available

**About the role and the team**

The Environment Protection Authority has four Legal Graduate / Paralegal (Environment Officer Class 3) roles available within their Litigation Team and four Legal Graduate / Paralegal (Environment Officer Class 3) roles available within their Legislation and Legal Advice Team. All roles are available for up to two years. This recruitment process may be used to fill further roles as they become available in both the Litigation Team and Legislation and Legal Advice Team. Both teams comprise the EPA’s Legal Team.

The EPA’s Legal Team is a high performing group of specialist in-house lawyers who prosecute and defend EPA cases in Court and who provide legal advice to the EPA across all areas of its work.

**Litigation Team**

In relation to the advertised roles in the Litigation Team, reporting to a Manager Litigation, the Legal Graduate / Paralegal will prepare and conduct uncomplicated litigation matters for the EPA to enforce environmental laws, support senior lawyers conducting litigation matters, provide legal advice and support the development and administration of environmental legislation.

The key accountabilities relevant to the role include but are not limited to:

- Prepare and conduct uncomplicated cases defending the administration of environmental laws to maximise positive environmental outcomes.
- Provide high quality legal and policy advice to stakeholders on uncomplicated legal issues.
- Participate in the delivery of legal and investigative education seminars and training programs.
- Develop and maintain cooperative, productive and professional working relationships with key stakeholders.

To be successful, you will be a junior level lawyer and will need to be admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW or be within 12 months of completing the tertiary studies required for admission.

**Legislation and Legal Advice Team**:
In relation to the advertised roles in the Legislation and Legal Advice Team, reporting to a Manager Legislation and Legal Advice, the Legal Officer will provide advice and research on a range of compliance, regulatory and commercial issues, draft legal documentation, participate in legislative reform, and provide training and education.

The key accountabilities relevant to the role include but are not limited to:

- Develop and maintain cooperative, productive and professional working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide high quality professional research and uncomplicated advice to stakeholders on environment protection, administrative law, machinery of government and agency contract, lease and grant arrangements to assist with the effective resolution of legal issues.
- Draft and review uncomplicated legal documentation.
- Contribute to developing relevant and contemporary legislation and contribute to the legislative review program to ensure the achievement of corporate objectives of the EPA, within the framework of the Government agenda.
- Contribute to the development and participate in the delivery of legal education seminars and compliance programs.
