A major milestone was achieved at Cowal with Board and regulatory approvals received for the development of the Cowal Underground Mine, which provides a higher-grade ore source that will be blended with the current E42 open pit and stockpile ore. The development of the Cowal Underground Mine is part of the Group’s goal of Cowal producing 350,000 ounces of low-cost gold a year and extend its mine life out beyond 17 years, while at the same time injecting significant economic benefit for all stakeholders. The planned capital investment is A$380 million.

**About the role**

The Mine Engineering Services Superintendent reports to the Mining Manager. The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the mine. This will be achieved by leading and engaging a team of professionals in providing technical support including mine design and planning, projects management, drill and blast designing, and surveying.

Key responsibilities and duties
- Providing technical support to operational teams in line with the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Legislation, Australian Standards and Environmental Standards/Procedures
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining of the design and planning standards and processes.
- Contributing to an injury-free culture throughout the mine via Visible Felt Leadership to help promote safe working conditions and practices.
- Managing the preparation of all mine production plans with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational), profitability and quality.
- Providing short
- and long-term guidance on drilling and blasting parameters, survey, to create accurate mine planning, scheduling and design requirements.
- Defining and optimising mine planning scenarios to maximise business opportunities including consideration of geology, processing, and mine maintenance opportunities.
- Reviewing and delivering timely and accurate capital and operating budgets, regular forecasts and accruals used for effective cost management on a daily, monthly and annual basis.
- Optimising the fleet management system to minimise disruption and maximise productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Providing inputs into drafting contracts for mining related contracts.
- Carrying out month-end reporting and variance analysis on actual vrs forecast information.
- Working within and comply with the Evolution Mining and CGO site-specific safety and health management system.

- Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering
- NSW Quarry Manager’s Certificate and /or Mining Engineering Manager’s Certificate is an advantage
- Strong technical knowledge and mining background in planning, scheduling and drill and blast utilising truck and shovel methods
- High degree of commercial acumen with previous experience in developing budgets to meet production and service targets
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to support, coach and mentor staff
