Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Teacher to be responsible for leading an education team, curriculum development and overseeing the preparation and facilitation of an accredited, effective education program within a flexible learning environment. To lead the teaching and learning of students to individual needs, abilities and attainment potential, in accordance with guidelines provided by the Queensland Board of Studies and ACARA. Ensure students are successfully re-engaged with education pathways and are supported to develop positive aspirations that enable alternative independent futures. To lead a small team of Teachers, Teacher Aides and Youth Workers.
You will successfully
- Provide leadership, mentoring, supervision, professional support and guidance for Teachers, Education Staff and Volunteers with the school.
- Ensure the effective development, delivery and evaluation of the school’s education program and inform policy development. Ensuring activities align with policy development.
- Develop and lead the implementation of the school’s assessment and reporting policies and practices.
- Developing and implementing the Individual Educational Plan (IEP/ILP) and Senior Education Training Plan (SET) of all students and participating in IEP and SET Plan meetings.
- Responsible for the collection of data and record keeping for NCCD and student achievement.
- Provision of regular reports to the National Education Manager against short, medium and long term goals of the school program.
- Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class.
- Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students.
- Assessing, marking, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of the students.
- Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students.
- Participating in In-Service education and training courses as well as in continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to maintain registration and industry currency.
- Maintaining Safeguarding of students aligned with Health and Safety requirements and effective behaviour management strategies and mandatory reporting expectations.
- Participating in and contributing to IEP conferences and reviews of students and collaborating with parents, National Education Manager, and other professionals/stakeholders working with the student.
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Lawnton, QLD. Salary and accordance with the Education Services Teacher award.
You will have
- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in QLD.
- TAE 40116 Certificate IV in Assessment and Training to deliver Nationally Accredited Vocational Certificates (desirable)
- 3 years + experience with Special Assistance Schools, that provide alternative educational settings for students with high-level needs and students who are at risk, have behavioural difficulties, or whose needs are better met by flexible learning structures.
- Queensland College of Teachers Registration - current
- A national police record check is required
