Exciting Opportunity: Disability Support Worker (IMMEDIATE START)

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their goals. You will work closely with a dedicated team, using their preferred communication methods and creating an environment that promotes independence and dignity.
We are currently hiring for a specific client with complex mental and physical health diagnoses. Experience with complex behaviours and mental health is preferred but not required.

**The successful applicants must have**:
- a current National Police Clearance
- NDIS workers screening check (or willing to obtain one)
- a current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Valid ABN (or willingness to obtain) and Professional Indemnity, Public Liability and Car Insurance.
- The applicant must have the legal right to work in Australia.
- Possess current CPR & First Aid Certificates
- Have a Working with Children Check
**Desirable**:
- Certificate or Diploma in Community Services, Individual Support, Disability
- Australian Driver's License or International Equivalent with regular access to a reliable fully insured car
- Prior experience dealing with people living with a disability
- Prior experience dealing with people with complex mental health / behavioural
- Experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- A NDIS Orientation module certificate.
**In addition to meeting the criteria, we are seeking individuals who**:
- Are passionate about assisting people with disabilities and or mental illness
- Are available to work flexible shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends (short notice) / regular ongoing shifts
- Have a strong understanding of a person-centred approach
- Feel comfortable supporting clients with disabilities or complex mental health diagnoses
- Respect confidentiality and personal boundaries of participants
- Prioritise choice and control, upholding participants' rights
- Actively participate in our clients' journey towards their goals, providing practical and emotional support
- Willingness to assist with complex tasks, such as caring for pets, general house tasks, and cooking
- Documentation: Accurately record client progress, incidents, and achievements, ensuring compliance with NDIS guidelines
- Comfortable being exposed to cigarette smoke regularly/daily (specific to the participant we are hiring for / chain smoker)
- Ability and stamina to walk a lot
- this participant has OCD and upholds the same routine daily it involves a lot of walking so we are seeking an individual who is capable of keeping up with our participant.
- Experience in supporting individuals with mental health needs intellectual/physical disabilities
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required for this position
- Punctuality - we value staff that arrives on shift on time/ our participants rely heavily on our support staff - sometimes, you are their only human interaction; you are their connection to the community, so our staff must arrive to their shifts on time

**Job Types**: Subcontract, Casual
**Salary**: $34.00 - $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

- Disability Support work: 1 year (preferred)
