**The Division**

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure. The Networks and Assets Branch looks after the assets that connect our communities and their purpose is to make regional and out metropolitan NSW a better place to live, work and visit.

**About the team - **Maintenance and Delivery South**

Our Maintenance and Delivery Southern team is responsible for maintenance and road safety programs and projects, and incident response and recovery services. This team is an internal delivery partner for construction and maintenance projects that concern road and bridge assets within the Southern Region Transport Network. We require safety-focused and outcome driven people to enable the successful delivery of construction and maintenance programs to high level safety, quality and efficiency requirements.

We need to be agile, creative, and innovative to deliver the sustainable solutions necessary for a resilient network. We work in diverse teams that are geographically dispersed and with varying specialist skillsets.

Our workbook ranges from technically challenging construction projects and responsive routine maintenance programs that ensure that connections between remote communities are enhanced, safe and accessible for our customers.

**The opportunity**

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Works Assistant - Asset Inspector, Grade 3 to join our Maintenance and Delivery team based at the Cooma Office.

In this role you will perform checks and you will record and report on issues impacting the network. The role may also conduct surveillance to support works delivery and undertake a range of project support activities to support the section’s line management. The role may be required to carry out duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 as required.

**What you will be involved in**
- You will perform a wide range of routine and complex labouring/manual tasks
- You will solve routine problems that arise, refer to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborate with supervisors and managers to resolve complex issues to minimise risks and achieve work goals.
- You will provide guidance to team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability and ensure team tasks are completed effectively.
- You will participate in team meetings, planning and activities to support continuous improvement and achieve work goals. You will understand and maintain knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, record management and industry requirements
- You will understand and follow environmental procedures, including identifying and reporting environmental hazards, waste materials and equipment disposal to ensure legislative, business and operational requirements are met.

**About you**

You have a sound understanding of road systems and networks along with knowledge of road maintenance construction and associated infrastructure. Whilst not essential, a strong technical understanding of TfNSW quality specifications will be highly regarded.

To be considered for this role you will also have:

- Experience in civil construction, or maintenance or proven experience operating at a Road Worker Grade 3 level or industry equivalent.
- You must hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence.
- You are confident in operating various databases and systems and possess good literacy and numeracy skills and are able to communicate effectively with me
