**The opportunity**

**What you’ll be working on**
- Supervise a team of Urban Planners in the delivery of exceptional customer service associated with Council’s Statutory planning functions, including reviewing reports and providing guidance.
- Preparing submissions and representing Council before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Council’s Delegated Planning Committee.
- Contributing to and implementing the department’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assisting in the development of policies and other strategic planning projects.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- A tertiary qualification in Statutory Planning or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in a statutory planning role in the public or private sector, preferably within a Local Government setting and within Victoria.
- A current Victorian driver’s license.
- An advanced understanding of Statutory Planning legislation, the planning framework and planning principles as they operate in Victoria.
- A strong customer focus and confidence in dealing with customers via all modes of communication.
- Ability to lead, motivate and direct others along with the ability to resolve conflict situations.

Well-developed written skills, in both correspondence and report writing, together with excellent verbal presentation.- A demonstrated ability to manage time and competing priorities to achieve desired results.
- An aptitude for detail, accuracy and thoroughness in work undertaken.
- Well-developed investigative, analytical and flexible problem solving skills.
