**Disability Support Worker - Psychosocial Disability & Complex Needs (Night Shifts Available)**

We’re seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Disability Support Worker to join our dedicated team, supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities and/or complex needs, including those affected by schizophrenia, drug and alcohol misuse, and challenging behaviours.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in mental health, substance use, or behavioural support who is passionate about empowering others to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. **Night shifts are a key requirement for this role**, ensuring consistent support and safety for participants in Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments.
**About the Role**
As a Disability Support Worker, you will:
- Deliver tailored support to NDIS participants with complex psychosocial needs, including those living with schizophrenia, dual diagnoses, and substance use disorders.
- Support individuals exhibiting complex and high-risk behaviours, using trauma-informed, person-centred approaches.
- Work primarily in night shift rotations, maintaining a stable and calming environment overnight, while responding to any needs that may arise.
- Provide practical assistance with domestic duties, personal care, medication reminders, and emotional support.
- Observe and report any changes in participants’ behaviour or mental/physical health.
- Encourage independence and recovery-focused goals aligned with participants’ individual plans.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Follow behaviour support and risk management plans to maintain safety for all involved.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Domestic Assistance**: Support with household tasks to ensure a clean, safe environment.
- **Personal Care**: Provide overnight support for hygiene and mobility needs, where applicable.
- **Behavioural Support**: Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioural challenges, especially overnight.
- **Medication Monitoring**: Ensure participants take medications as prescribed, where applicable.
- **Emotional Support**: Be a calming, consistent presence overnight, offering reassurance and stability.
**What We’re Looking For**
- Experience supporting people with psychosocial disabilities, including schizophrenia, drug and alcohol use, and complex behaviours.
- Previous work in mental health, AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs), crisis care, or similar settings is highly desirable.
- Ability and willingness to work night shifts on a regular basis.
- Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
- A compassionate, respectful, and professional approach to care.
- Current Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
- Relevant qualifications (Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or equivalent).
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, First Aid and CPR certifications.

**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $32.80 - $91.88 per hour
