- _Payroll functions for the entire employee lifecycle._
- _Governance and data analysis of payroll functions._
- _Payroll workflow management and administrative support._

**Who we are**
Financial Operations Branch provides shared services for the department, including corporate services such as travel, credit cards, procurement, grants policy, advice and reporting, payroll services, procurement, accounts receivable, debt management and accounts payable. The branch also provides a project management and oversight role for some of the critical projects for the division.

The Payroll Services Section provides a payroll service integrating a range of tasks including conditions of service and payroll processing for the entire employee lifecycle which encompasses commencement, prior service, leave liability, superannuation, leave management, payment of allowances, deductions, salary maintenance, workers compensation, overseas employees, salary packaging, pay run, employee debt management and exits, and responds to employee enquiries in relation to these functions. We are also required to ensure that appropriate governance protocols are in place and adhered to so that our payroll processes are compliant with relevant legislation and other requirements.

**The Jobs**
Reporting to an Assistant Director, as a Team Leader you will:

- manage a team to meet all departmental people management obligations including setting of performance agreements, WHS and performance management
- train and mentor staff to ensure they are able to competently undertake all tasks and develop high performing staff
- hold coaching sessions with senior staff members in the team and provide regular and consistent feedback
- undertake fortnightly processing/reporting on a rotating basis
- complete checking in designated timeframes within the team to ensure quality outputs
- manage escalations, prepare complex correspondence and ensure customers are provided with accurate and timely advice
- communicate effectively with a range of clients and stakeholders
- ensure appropriate information, such as legislation or process changes, are communicated and implemented effectively within the team
- initiate, manage and implement payroll projects and delegate associated workloads appropriately
- develop and implement appropriate business processes that arise out of payroll projects
- perform system testing as required.

**Please note** that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill four ongoing vacancies and the roles may be performed from any of the locations listed on the job description. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
