**Position Information**:
Oak Flats Public School is situated in the Lake Illawarra area with a current enrolment of 517 students which also includes the Oak Flats Public School Preschool. The school has 20 classes with 54 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. We focus strongly on maintaining and fostering our school as a learning community which values interaction between, and contribution from students, parents, teachers and the wider community.
At Oak Flats Public School literacy and numeracy are at the core of our curriculum and quality teaching is based on current research driven by timely and consistent student data collection. A whole school focus maximising student performance encourages high expectations and life-long learning. Modern technologies are embraced and valued.
At Oak Flats Public School we are sensitive to individual student abilities and circumstances and pride ourselves on support for students with additional learning and support needs and our commitment to individualised instruction. We have quality transition programs from Preschool to Year 7 complemented by a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities in leadership, sport, creative and performing arts and beyond. A strong link between wellbeing and learning outcomes with our Positive Behaviour for Learning program and Wellbeing Framework provide structures to ensure a happy and successful teaching and learning environment.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary and the ability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practices with the complex responsibilities of a leadership role.
Deep understanding of the Strategic Improvement Plan with a capacity to drive the school planning and evaluation cycle. Proven ability to use data to inform planning and prioritising future directions for our school to improve student academic outcomes, well being and engagement.
Demonstrated experience to lead, evaluate and support whole school evidence based programs with outstanding curriculum knowledge and capacity to lead curriculum change.
Outstanding communication, collaboration and organisation skills with the ability to lead, mentor and inspire a team of both experienced and early career teachers to implement effective pedagogy.
A highly, visible and approachable leader with a proven ability to connect with all stakeholders and strengthen positive partnerships across the school community, resulting in an inclusive school culture.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
