**About the role**:
As the municipalities Coordinator of Transport you will lead the management and development of a safe and well-connected transport system delivering Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy.

Coordinate a team of 8 to provide prompt, friendly and effective resolution of complex service issues raised by Councillors and members of the community in a way that aligns to Council’s values and models agreed behaviours.

**Duties will include but not limited to**:

- Exercise level 4 management delegations and decisions and recommendations as otherwise directed.
- Manage the Transport Safety team, including the development of a highly capable, aligned and engaged team, and ensuring delivery of responsibilities.
- Develop creative and strategic solutions to parking and transport issues associated with a changing and growing population, and for emerging transport issues such as parklets, car share, and new transport technologies.
- Liaison with Councillors, State Government, other organisations and stakeholders, and provision of high-quality accurate advice to Council and the Executive on operational and strategic matters.
- Provision of city-wide, issue specific transport safety engineering expertise in leading the delivery of relevant projects and providing input on projects led by others.
- Responsible for contributing to department leadership including demonstrating a commitment to Community First and the organisation’s values and behaviours and understanding and complying with the organisation’s policies and procedures and ensuring their staff are able to do the same.
- Actively contribute to the development of transport safety capabilities and knowledge sharing within the Partnerships and Transport Department and the wider organisation.
- Strategic analysis and planning of integrated transport and parking initiatives to deliver key Council endorsed actions, projects and initiatives.
- Managing budgets effectively and overseeing project delivery in line with Council’s Project Framework
- Provision of professional advice on issues related to transport, parking management and externally led projects in alignment with the Council’s strategic direction and policy position.

**Requirements include**:

- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of federal and state government policy and legislation and Local Government operations that impact upon transport and parking management.
- Sound financial, project management, customer service and up to date computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare analytical reports and to make recommendations to manager, Council, Executive Leadership Team and external committees.
- Ability to manage own time, plan and organise own and others work and resources at an advanced level to achieve outcomes and long term goals.
- Highly developed oral and written skills in the communication of complex ideas and issues with a variety of audiences.
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in traffic / transportation engineering field.
- Extensive experience in managing and leading staff to achieve agreed results.
- Excellent conceptual and analytical skills, with proven ability to understand a wide range of policy areas, identify issues and provide strategic direction.
- Significant project / program management experience
- Knowledge of Local Government operations and processes.
- Registered as a professional engineer in Victoria or be in a process of being registered.
- Victorian Driver Licence and VicRoads Licence verification.
