**Salary**: $81,802.04 to $94,072.35 per annum + 12 % superannuation
Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Development Assessment business unit is seeking a Paralegal Assistant to support the legal function with the City Planning division.
**Purpose**:
This role provides high-level administrative and legal support to the Special Counsel and broader City Planning team. As the first point of contact for legal matters, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth preparation and coordination of court proceedings, legal documentation, and internal processes.
**About the role**:
You will assist in the preparation and management of legal matters before the Land and Environment Court, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and maintain accurate legal records and registers. Your work will directly support the delivery of legal services that underpin Council’s planning and development functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and paralegal support to the Special Counsel.
- Prepare, file and serve court documents.
- Coordinate hearings and legal briefings.
- Maintain legal registers, document control systems and correspondence.
- Liaise with barristers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing reports, legal responses, and Council documentation.
- Manage legal records, subpoenas, notices to produce, and cost orders.
**About you**:
You are a proactive and organised professional with:
- Qualifications or equivalent experience in a paralegal role.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in office software and document management systems.
- A high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters.
- Experience in local government or the Land and Environment Court and rudimentary legal research skills are highly desirable.
