**About the Opportunity**

The Production Trade Manager is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a safe, efficient and effective trade group to support to the submarine maintenance program, in accordance with business objectives.

An integral part of the position is to ensure adequate resources are provided to the Project Teams in support of submarine maintenance activities. This will include the management and the provision of hiring and training of suitably qualified and experienced trades. It will also require managing the development of systems to monitor progress, improve efficiency, undertake recruitment and improve competencies.

**Responsibilities**
- Support a proactive, prevention-based approach to delivery of all WHS outcomes.
- Deliver continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence and responsibility.
- Maintain qualifications and develop skills, competency and training.
- Provide effective management, supervision and leadership to all aspects of the Trade groups in order to support business objectives.
- Ensure all personnel have a comprehensive understanding of company processes and are trained and competent in all tasks assigned.
- Support the Project schedules; manage the correct use of barcoding and progressing systems. Monitoring the Team’s performance using of EVM systems.
- Manage the development of process control documentation including plans, guidelines, process and work instructions for all trade value streams.
- Refine the facility, equipment and tooling requirements for all trade value streams including the purchase of capital items.
- Develop and maintain Position Descriptions for personnel.
- Be actively involved in the recruitment of personnel.
- Build the skilled resources in line with the Schedule requirements. This includes all trades, Team Leads and Superintendents.
- Manage the Production Trade Department personnel’s performance, professional and trade development, succession planning and performance appraisals.
- Plan and track personnel development, identifying skills gaps and to provide overview of workforce qualification and capability.
- Work with the Planning team to develop each Production Trade value stream to best support Production needs.
- Control and monitor leave, overtime and shifts required to support projects and budgets.

**About you**
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production management or equivalent.
- Extensive Operations experience in a naval or complex heavy engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Sound aptitude for developing, implementing and maintaining business and operations systems and processes at a corporate and operational level.
- Ability to effectively manage and develop team members in line with personal needs and business requirements.

**Eligibility**

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
