**The Role**

Under general direction, the Curator, Military Heraldry and Technology will provide curatorial services and advice relating to a broad range of categories of objects in the National Collection. The work involves: collection and staff management; documentation of the collection, undertaking research to contribute to the development of knowledge and understanding of the historical significance of the National Collection and providing interpretation through effective cataloguing, articles, books, web material, and exhibition development.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Develop and manage the National Collection across a broad range of Heraldry and Technology objects, including the management and authorisation of collection management records.
- Undertake research into the Collection, and ensure findings are recorded and accessible through social media, effective cataloguing, articles, web material, and exhibition development.
- Provide leadership and direction to the staff of the section.
- Co-ordinate section responses to public enquiries and provide high level correspondence, including council and ministerial briefs.
- Lead and manage a small team, provide guidance and mentoring in modern curatorial practice across the section, and work constructively with other sections, to achieve the outcomes specified in the Memorial Business Plan and Collection Development Plan.
- Contribute to the development of yearly business plans, provide performance information for output reporting and develop and maintain appropriate records.
- Represent the Memorial, work effectively with veteran and stakeholder groups and work constructively with other Memorial areas.
- Undertake manual handling and movement of a wide range of objects as required, including but not limited to collection items and boxes.
