**Role Description/Criteria**

**OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE**

The Tutor collaborates with the Director of Learning Enhancement and the Vice Principal - Learning and Teaching to promote and connect high quality teaching to student engagement, successful learning, and positive student outcomes.

The Tutor Learning Initiative is introduced to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic to employ tutors to deliver targeted small group learning support for those students who are below, or at risk of falling below, the National Minimum Standards. The intervention should address identified gaps in students’ learning and use evidence-based approaches for teaching with a focus on literacy and numeracy. The tutor is responsible for building strong and determined relationships, using data to plan and deliver tailored interventions, and reporting on student learning progress.

The Tutor works closely with other teaching colleagues and the Learning Enhancement Team. The Tutor is under the direction of the Vice Principal - Learning and Teaching and reports directly to the Director of Learning Enhancement.

You are eligible to be a tutor if you:

- Are currently registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT);
- Have “Permission to Teach” from the VIT (teacher tutor);
- Are a pre-service teacher (employed as an Education support class employee) working under the supervision of a registered teacher;
- Are a retired teacher; or
- Are a speech therapist/pathologist or occupational therapist (employed as an Education Support class employee) tutoring in specified identified student needs.

**MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**

The responsibilities of the Tutor include but are not limited to:
i. Planning and delivering Intervention Sessions;
ii. In conjunction with the Learning Enhancement team, preparing Individual Education Plans

iii. performing other duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.
