Moneycare is The Salvation Army’s national financial counselling and financial capability program. This role provides support to people who are in financial difficulty or hardship, or are wishing to avoid such situations.
Assisting people to gain money management skills, make positive financial decisions and develop long term financial resilience.
To develop and implement community member centred case plans and develop options that alleviate financial hardship, improve mental health and improve personal wellbeing. To work in accordance with The Salvation Army Mission and Policy and the Moneycare Practice Framework as well as the requirements of the relevant funding bodies. (Please note this role does not include providing financial counselling, financial advice/options or dealing with complex financial or legal matters).
We are seeking a values-driven and dedicated Financial Capability Case Worker, reporting to the Moneycare Regional Manager. You will deliver financial literacy education, information and coaching and maintain a strong focus on supporting people to change behaviour.
You will successfully
- Make ongoing assessment of community member issues, needs and circumstances from initial contact to exit
- Deliver financial literacy education workshops with a strong focus on supporting people to build longer term capability by developing skills to plan for their financial future
- Individual casework plans are developed in collaboration with community members, recognising the ways in which other life issues may interact with personal financial issues
- Assist community members to access other support services and establish community supports if applicable
- Regularly monitor progress and outcomes of individual case plans and review where needed action is taken to ensure the plan continues to meet the relevant needs or goals
- Establish collaborative and effective relationships with community members to provide the best level of service
You will have
- Hold Cert IV in Community Services
- Hold Financial Literacy Education Skill Set or willing to complete within six months of being employed
- Relevant experience in a social service environment and/or a good understanding of issues that can cause financial hardship and financial exclusion
- Demonstrated capability to meet deadlines and work under conflicting time pressures
- Demonstrated proficiency in working within a Windows Office environment
- Highly effective communication skill and negotiation skills
- A Working with Children Check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police check
