The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Principal Policy and Engagement Officer to provide a critical role within the Redress Design and Delivery.

**About the role**

The Principal Engagement and Policy Officer is a new role and reports to the Senior Manager, Restorative Engagement. It provides authoritative policy and program advice, oversees program operations, mentoring and coaching support to a team of Senior Engagement Officers responsible for delivering restorative engagement processes in line with policy and operational guidelines.

Some of the duties include:

- Support the Senior Manager, Restorative Engagement to lead, mentor, support and guide a multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistent practice, and management of complex issues in a constructive and strengths-based manner.
- Lead program performance monitoring including ongoing analysis of restorative engagement conference data, learnings and outcomes, synthesis of information into well-written, concise and audience-appropriate briefings, reports and presentations.
- Provide ongoing high level and authoritative policy and program advice to the Senior Manager, Restorative Engagement on a wide range of complex issues to support program objectives and recommendations relating to workplace and cultural reform.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Recent demonstrable experience in a leadership role and the capability to think strategically, articulate and write logically.
- Experience in the strategic planning and delivery of participant-centred restorative practices and service coordination.
- Extensive technical understanding of trauma informed practice, methodologies and processes, and significant experience working as a practitioner in complex therapeutic contexts.

**Qualifications**:

- A qualification or relevant experience in public policy, social work, equal opportunity or psychology is highly desirable.
- Experience working in government and/or in victim support / case management would be desirable.
