**The opportunity**
Our Natural Systems team are seeking an experienced Bushland and Invasive Species Officer to join the team on a contract basis until December 2025.
Your role is an important one, assisting the Environmental Operations Team leader in preparing Natural Area Management Plans. You will also be able to help our community understand how to manage Invasive Species and Biosecurity concerns within the Port Stephens LGA, making sure that we're in compliance with relevant legislation. You’ll be proactive in providing practical, plain language advice to key stakeholders, holding an ability to effectively communicate and consult in a friendly and informative manner.
- **This is a contract opportunity** - working full-time 38 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement such as a 4-day work week.
- **Base Salary Range**: $73,236 to $86,086 pa based on 38 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $2,312 retention allowance
- **You will be working from** PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

- Develop and implement coordinated control programs for the management of invasive species, noxious and environmental weeds, pests, and biosecurity issues
- Educate the community on the management of invasive species, noxious and environmental weeds and pests, as well as assist with community enquiries
- Management of Port Stephens Council owned natural areas and bush land

- Relevant qualifications in natural resource or weed management/or related field with experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience in field survey techniques, including plant identification skills
- Computer literacy including experience in Geographic Information Systems and field mapping
