**The Position**

**St John of God Hawkesbury District Health Service **is a 120 bed acute hospital with an 8 bed High Dependency Unit and an Emergency Department seeing 25,000 patients per year. The Medical Unit is supervised by Visiting Medical Officers and Staff Specialists in a variety of sub-specialities including General Medicine, Geriatrics, Cardiology and Respiratory Medicine.
- We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced doctor to work as a General Surgery Registrar within a General Surgery Unit in North West Sydney. The unaccredited registrar will work alongside 3 training Surgical Registrars.
- This would be an excellent post for a doctor wanting to get into a training position in coming years or looking for more experience prior to making decisions about their long-term career.
- Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- General registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and AHPRA.
- A minimum of three (3) years postgraduate experience in relevant clinical settings including surgical units.
- Demonstrated clinical and procedural competency in:

- Assessment and management of surgical and medical patients
- Venepuncture, venous and arterial cannulations
- Urinary Catheterisation
- Independent interpretation of diagnostic pathology, radiology and cardiology tests
- Basic Life Support
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality management and continuing medical education and training.
