**This opportunity**

As part of the TPG Telecom Governance Team, the Work Health & Safety (WHS) Governance Manager is involved in the successful implementation of TPG Telecom’s WHS strategy and play a lead role the effective management and successful implementation of the company WHS Management System (WHSMS). The WHS Governance Manager will work closely with company WHS Teams, Leaders and other internal and external stakeholders in the implementation of the company WHSMS. We are open to location for this role.

**Responsibilities**
- Actively participate and manage the development and implementation of a WHSMS that meets company requirements, state WHS obligations and industry best practice.
- Develop Safe Systems of Work to ensure successful implementation and compliance with the company WHSMS.
- Consult with business streams across TPG Telecom in the development and implementation of the company WHSMS.
- Develop WHS policies, procedures and supporting documentation to meet the requirements of the company WHSMS.
- Provide accurate and timely advice on obligations and industry best practice in relation to WHS in the telecommunications sector, including fibre and mobile & fixed operations.
- Actively participate and manage the development of WHS risk control strategies to remove or effectively control identified WHS hazards and risks.
- Attend and actively participate in vendor meetings to act as the company WHS governance representative and provide information on the company WHSMS. Address any WHSMS non-compliance issues.
- Have an expert operational understanding of SafeT, the company’s digital safety management system which is powered by DoneSafe.
- Effectively implement WHS project deliverables in line within project scope and timeframes.
- Develop effective WHS training programs and delivery training to stakeholders.
- Lead WHS incident investigations; work with internal and external stakeholders to identify root causes of incidents and implement effective WHS risk control strategies to prevent reoccurrence.
- Review, assess and audit contractor WHS competencies to ensure meet WHS obligations and company requirements.
- Assist in manning the company safe & well inbox and provide competent advice in response to queries.
- Undertake WHS risk assessment on company activities, implement effective WHS risk control strategies to remove or effectively control identified risks.

**Knowledge and experience**
- Operational experience in WHS management, ideally within high-risk industries such as telecommunications, construction or utilities.
- Minimum qualification - Cert IV in WHS.
- Understanding of WHS/OHS legislation, codes of practice, standards and industry best practice across all Australian states and territories.
- Experience with the implementation and managing of WHS risk control strategies, ideally across all Australian states and territories in a large complex organisation.
- Experience with managing and delivering WHS projects, ideally across all Australian states and territories in a large complex organisation.
- WHS inspecting and auditing experience across a variety of work activities and work sites, ideally including telecommunications or construction.
- Ability to effectively deliver presentations to workers, senior leaders, executives and board members. Ability to effectively influence theses stakeholders.
- Highly developed and proven written and verbal communication skills to deliver the best customer service.

Preferred:

- Diploma of WHS or tertiary qualification in WHS.
- Experience with implementing ISO 45001, ISO Lead Auditor qualified.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- ICAM Lead Investigator trained.
- Experience with managing workers compensation claims and insurance renewals
