**Hours per week**: 38
**Remuneration**: Band 7 salary from $112,427.64 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
**Location**: Werribee based

**About the role**
Reporting to the Team Leader Building Permits & Inspections you will drive business success through effective and timely checking of Building Permits, building relationships with clients, marketing the business and providing expert advice and guidance to clients and the community.

You will provide accurate technical advice to rate payers and builders on building matters and also undertake mandatory building inspections when required.

**What your day will look like**
- Ensure that Council’s statutory obligations are met
- Examine plans, specifications and documents lodged by applicants for various building permits
- Make sure that essential service inspections are carried out and report prepared
- Prepare and issue Building Notices and Orders
- Provide emergency response for inspection of damaged buildings
- Contribute to the development, mentoring and support of staff

**What you will bring**
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Building Surveying
- A proficient understanding of the Building Act, Building Regulations and Australian Standards
- Knowledge of construction methodology and terminology
- Registration as a Building Surveyor Limited required (Unlimited desirable) with the Victorian Building Authority
- Registration as a Building Inspector (Unlimited) with the Victorian Building Authority

If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
