**Genomic Diagnostics **is the nationally coordinated genetics laboratory for Healius Pathology, offering a comprehensive range of testing for reproductive, inherited diseases and oncology genetics.
Based at the Genomic Diagnostics Laboratory in Heidelberg we are seeking a laboratory assistant to join our dynamic team in our specialised genetic testing department in a part-time capacity (19 hours per week). This is a 2-year contract position with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Specimen Reception Team Leader, your duties will include the prompt sorting, processing and accessioning of pathology specimens, data entry, as well as operating laboratory equipment for DNA extraction.
**About you**:
- Previous laboratory experience is desirable
- Qualification in laboratory techniques or pathology/general science related field
- Knowledge and experience in laboratory robotics and operation of the Qiasymphony and Hamilton will be highly desirable
- You will thrive in a busy environment, and can work in a fast pace multi-skilled laboratory
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Ability to be flexible and prioritise competing tasks
- Commitment towards good customer service
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to work efficiently in a team
- Demonstrate superior attention to detail and quality
