**Role Details**

The Social Worker is a role within Safer Family Services and is accountable to the Supervisor for:
- providing a range of interventions for vulnerable infants, children and their families
- working collaboratively with professionals in government and non-government services to provide wholistic case management to vulnerable children and their families through engagement and building relationships, to ensure children remain safe within their families, connected to culture and community
- contributing to the development and implementation of best practice that delivers an effective and efficient client focused service.
Key outcomes and accountabilities
1. Deliver quality client focused support services to eligible infants, children and their families that are identified through triage and assessment processes, as having high and complex needs and adhere to practice guidelines, protocols, audits and quality indicators.
2. Provide a case work response to infants, children and families as directed by senior staff, by utilising a comprehensive case management approach including assessments, in partnership with infants, children, families, colleagues and other services, and a range of intervention approaches to engage children and families, inclusive of, but not limited to infant/child and family centred, strength based, culturally relevant and informed by evidence base and practice wisdom.
3. Develop practice approaches with infants/children and their families to determine the goals, focus of service engagement and delivery and support sustained intervention to vulnerable children and families, operating as a member of a multidisciplinary team utilising an interdisciplinary and inter-agency teamwork approach.
5. Assess the safety of, and negotiate the mitigation of risk to, infants/children including communicating effectively and efficiently with Supervisor in relation to issues of escalation for safety and care.
6. Contribute to the maintenance of data and record management to improve service delivery including maintaining high quality case notes, ensuring that all relevant client data is completed accurately and entered into the client management system, managing client files and documentation in accordance with agency policy and practices and participating in case reviews and file audits.
7. Continue to maintain and develop skills and expertise including participating in regular supervision and cultural and other specialist consultations, undertaking and evidencing continuing professional development activities, and participating in workplace training focused on upgrading skills and knowledge.

- Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
- Incumbent will be required to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would be medically unsafe for the employee to do so.
**Essential Qualifications**
- An appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
