6 Month Fixed Term contract Ranch Hand role supporting Veterans’ wellbeing

Eligible for ‘not for profit’ salary packaging - up to $15,900 a year

Opportunity:
As a Ranch Hand, on an initial 6-month fixed term contract, you’ll work 20 hours a week (4 hours each day, 7.30am to 11.30am Monday to Friday) and play a key role in providing support to our Spur Equine program.

The Spur Equine program is designed by veterans for veterans and seeks to promote wellbeing and recovery through a variety of equine courses and treks. Your work will be important to the success of the program, as you work closely with the Spur Equine program Manager to care for, train and educate the horses on the ranch.

You will also:
- Catch and feed all horses and sweep and clean the feed room.- Undertake a visual inspection of each horse during the feed up time.- Bring all horses into the coral in preparation for veterans and volunteer riding exercises- Report any horse injury, illness or in need of specific education in the context of our programs.- Perform any reasonable direction in relation to the maintenance of the facility and care of horses.

We need you to have to succeed:
- Knowledge of basic horse husbandry.- Ability to communicate ideas and information verbally and effectively.- General farm skills.- Some out of hours work on weekends or evenings may be required.We can offer you:
