The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government established under the Education (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) Act 2014. In collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders and partner agencies, the QCAA plays a critical role in the design and delivery of education in Queensland.
The QCAA is responsible for kindergarten guideline and senior secondary syllabus development, and for providing resources and services to help teachers develop curriculum, teaching and learning programs from kindergarten to Year 12. It also provides testing, assessment, moderation, certification, and vocational education and training services to Queensland's education community.
**Your team**: K-10 Curriculum and Assessment Branch
The Kindergarten team is part of the QCAA's K-10 Curriculum and Assessment Branch within the Curriculum Services Division. The Branch supports Queensland teachers to design and implement high quality curriculum and assessment across K-10. We are responsible for:
- development of the Queensland kindergarten learning guideline (QKLG) and support for implementation including advice, resources and professional development
- support for implementation of the P-10 Australian Curriculum including advice, resources and professional development.
The work of the Kindergarten team focusses specifically on supporting teachers and other stakeholders throughout Queensland to implement the QKLG.
Main responsibilities
The Manager, Kindergarten leads a team of Principal Project Officers in the development of the QKLG, supporting resources and professional learning activities for teachers, educators and stakeholders throughout Queensland's early education sector.
**In this role you will**:
- provide strategic advice to the Director on issues related to the QKLG, assessment in the kindergarten years, early years education and the transition from kindergarten to school
- lead and manage a team to support the revision of the QKLG, develop advice, resources and professional development materials to support implementation
- lead and manage projects within timeframes, using allocated resources and collaborating with officers throughout the QCAA and external participants
- prepare briefings, correspondence and reports on project activities
- create and maintain professional relations between the QCAA and key stakeholders, engaging multiple channels both online and face-to-face
- participate in and represent the QCAA at forums, workshops and discussion groups
- contribute to a culture of positive performance management by participating in and undertaking regular coaching conversations about conduct and performance with the Director and each member of the team as part of performance and development planning (PDP).
