**The Company**

KBR in Australia has been involved in working with Defence for the last 20 years, and has developed a core competency in systems engineering, systems and enterprise architecture, project management, training solutions and integrated logistic support and provides this expertise to support a wide range of exciting Defence projects and clients.
**The Role**
KBR’s Maritime Domain team is currently seeking an experienced Technical Writer to assist in the integrated logistics support of a number of Royal Australian Navy capabilities and enablers. You will be part of a multi-disciplined engineering and logistics team working with various stakeholders across numerous projects for the Navy.
As part of the Maritime Cross-Platform SPO (MCPSPO) reform, the MCPSPO Technical Writer is responsible for conducting technical writing activities for the preparation of technical documents such as; Planned Maintenance Schedules (PMS), Technical Maintenance Plans (TMP), Service Requirements, Australian Naval Publications (ANP), service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical equipment, and weapons systems.
The Technical Writer must be able to analyse requirements and develop material through consultation with engineering and technical staff external and/or internal to the Client organisation. Additionally, the role will include the following responsibilities:
- Analyse requirements, perform research and liaise directly with Systems Engineers, Team Leads, SME’s, Navy customers and Industry suppliers to develop technical documentation as required.
- Use organisational templates and software to develop technical documentation for electronic, electrical, mechanical, and combat/weapons equipment in accordance with the Defence Standards (e.g. DEF(AUST)5629C) and International specifications (e.g. S1000D)
- Prepare graphics and illustrations to complete technical documentation as required.
- Evaluate OEM supplied technical data (e.g. engineering drawings, spare parts catalogues etc.) and transpose this information into technical documentation appropriate for use in the Defence Environment.
- Undertake updates to existing technical documents using various sources of commercial and military data.
- Ensure developed maintenance baseline (inclusive of TMP, PMS and/or Service Requirements) aligns with approved OEM maintenance schedule and, most importantly, the maintenance philosophy is appropriate for Navy Environment.
- Provide cost estimates associated with the developed of maintenance documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertake market research to build knowledge regarding services and equipment to be documented.
- Undertake documentation planning and implement organisational document control plans and procedures.
- Provide support to other areas within the delivery teams and to acquisition projects as required.
**Experience and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role you will ideally possess:
- Technical trade experience in one or more specific disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in developing technical documentation in a Defence Environment
- Demonstrated and highly developed written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to develop technical documentation in a structured S1000D writing environment
**Mandatory Requirements**
Ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Baseline security clearance at minimum.
