**Role Purpose**:
**About this opportunity**

Reporting to the Track Supervisor, a typical week in this role might look like/this role involves:

- Carrying out labouring tasks on Yarra Tram Tracks and associated infrastructure as directed.
- Carrying out tasks associated with Infrastructure Projects and maintenance of the Track assets.
- Reports to Supervisor, Track as required to carry out Tram Track Maintenance works in a safe and cost-efficient manner.

**Key Accountabilities**
- To perform labouring tasks (eg: asphalting, concreting, etc.), operate mechanical equipment (eg: jackhammers, vibrating plates, etc.) under supervision.
- Operate a variety of trucks including Welding Trucks, Tippers, Drain Cleaning and Points Cleaning on an as required basis.
- Assist in the replacement and maintenance of tram track and other associated work as directed.
- Assist in identifying and reducing OH&S and environmental issues relevant to the position.
- Perform all track maintenance required including emergency response, routine and corrective maintenance on track assets in accordance with Infrastructure projects and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to conduct basic welding / oxy cutting as per maintenance procedures.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Tram Track Maintenance Standards.
- Provide emergency response and ability to conduct maintenance repairs.
- Basic knowledge in points maintenance including ability to maintain and clean track and point assets.
- Perform all reporting required to Track Supervisors.
- Ability to implement traffic management

**About you**

Ideally you will have:

- Must possess a current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Possession of a current Medium Rigid Endorsed Victorian Drivers Licence is highly desirable.
- Must be medically fit to perform the functions of the position.
- Ability to understand written and spoken instructions given in the English language.
- Work in an environment without direct supervision requiring initiative to deal with unplanned situations in a safe and appropriate manner.

**Experience & Knowledge**
- Sound knowledge of the tram network and experience in detecting and dealing with faults.
- Successfully pass training courses dealing with “Tram Electrical and Tram Track Safety, Overhead Appreciation” and “Traffic Management”.
- Be prepared to work day or night shift, and weekends or public holidays as required.
- Demonstrated experience in tram track maintenance is desirable.
- A sound knowledge of OHS &E requirements pertaining to track work.
