**Activities Officer - Casual**
Please note - You must have some capacity to work some weekdays and minimum 1 day on the weekend every weekend. Ideally, you will be able to work during the build up towards Christmas and during the Christmas Holidays, but you will not be required to work Public Holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day etc).

As an Activities Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and culturally sensitive programs and activities within an Immigration Detention Facility. Your work will help detainees build skills, enhance their mental health, and promote emotional resilience. This role is essential in providing meaningful engagement opportunities, ensuring detainees can participate in various educational, recreational, and leisure activities designed to meet their individual needs.
As an Activities Officer in the Welfare and Engagement team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

- Planning and delivering structured programs and activities that cater to diverse interests and needs
- Supporting detainees in accessing recreational equipment and maintaining accurate records
- Facilitating access to educational and spiritual activities, ensuring inclusivity and respect for diverse backgrounds
- Contributing to the P&A schedule with innovative ideas and responding to detainee feedback
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to promote detainee health and wellbeing

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

- Experience managing and delivering structured programs or activities
- Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- First Aid and CPR qualifications (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
