We are urgently seeking a casual Belt Splicer for a well-established supplier of conveyor and transmission belts in the Logan area. **Specific experience in belt splicing is not essential** as training will be provided, which means this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and develop a unique set of skills in an area that offers good hourly rates.
Duties include:
- Measuring, precision cutting and splicing of conveyor and transmission PVC and polyurethane belts in accordance with order requirements (using hand tools and power tools)
- Attending customer sites to install and undertake maintenance tasks on conveyor and transmission belts
- Undertaking quality checks to ensure that belts meet quality standards (including identification of belt damage and repairs/maintenance tasks)
- Loading goods for delivery (Forklift licence required)
- Recording and logging information
You should demonstrate experience in a trades assistant role or similar (although belt splicing experience is not essential, some knowledge of conveyor or transmission belts would be advantageous), together with:
- Commitment to working safely and undertaking quality work in accordance with work permits
- Current forklift licence and C class drivers licence
- Previous experience in a position that required the use of hand and power tools
- High attention to detail with good numeracy and measurement skills
- Proven ability to work well unsupervised and as part of a team
- Communication and interpersonal skills (you will be required to liaise with customers when undertaking site work)
Permanent rate commences at $28.00 per hour then progresses to $30.00 on three months probation and depending on skills and experience. Great opportunity to qualified and earn up to $45.00 per hour in a niche trade.
