Instrumental Music Specialist

**Role Description/Criteria**

**The position**

We are seeking an experienced Instrumental Music Specialist - Oboe to join our highly experienced and dynamic Music department for commencement at the start of Term 4 2025. This opportunity is to cover a period of parental leave and will be available until the beginning of Term 2, 2026.

IMS’s are appointed to assist in the provision of instrumental programs, both within the Music curriculum and as part of the School’s broader Music Program. IMS’s are responsible for overseeing their individual programs and for the progress of the students they tutor. They have the overarching goal of enabling every student to participate in the musical life of the School to the best of her ability.

Responsibilities of the role will include;
- Tutor an allocated list of instrumental students from beginner to advanced levels (VCE and Diploma)
- Liaise with the Director of Music and the relevant Head of Department in relation to student progress, repertoire, student assessment and performances, ensemble planning and the pastoral needs of students
- Foster a standard of excellence in music performance in examinations, recitals, concerts and other performance activities
- Direct Music Ensembles as required by the Director of Music
- Other duties as outlined in the position description
