We currently have an opportunity for a **Strategic Communications Manager** to join our team. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that align with Downer’s objectives. Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, this pivotal role will work closely with various teams and leaders to translate business strategies into key messages and develop appropriate communications initiatives in support of those strategies.

Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you can also expect to be involved in the advancement of our Marketing and Communications function; from innovating processes, to assisting on a variety of internal projects.

**What you’ll do**

The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:

- Partner with C-Suite leaders to craft and implement a compelling communication strategy and comprehensive communication plans that align with organisational goals and objectives.
- Act as the Brand Steward: Develop and maintain a consistent and compelling brand narrative across all communication channels.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to promote positive coverage and manage potential crisis effectively.
- Develop and nurture relationships with external stakeholders including customers, partners, and organisations to support business objectives.
- Produce high-quality written content for various communication channels.

**What you’ll bring**
- Tertiary Qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
- Experience partnering with key business leaders to delivery compelling brand communication strategies
- As an influential driver and thought leader, you should bring experience delivering innovative communication campaigns
- Experience within Defence, Health, Education, Energy or contracting industries would be highly desirable.
- Highly effective and compelling written communication skills and a desire to craft high-level content
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies.
- Knowledge of Media Relations and Crisis Communication.
