The MTM Infrastructure Division currently has a number of vacancies for Apprentice Lineworkers. During your 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll develop your skills and knowledge through on the job training - performing routine maintenance, renewals, reactive maintenance and system alterations on the traction overhead, High Voltage AC transmission and electrolysis overhead network. Your training will involve a mix of infield and classroom-based learning.
This Apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity to develop a unique skillset that will allow you to become an invaluable member of MTM through the completion of Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Rail Traction, and becoming a qualified Lineworker. The roster does involve day, afternoon and night shifts, so please be aware that 24/7 shift availability is an essential requirement for this role.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Attend TAFE or Trade school as required by education provider.-
- Participate in and support Metro Trains’ ongoing business improvement process.-
- Be able to work at heights and from a range of elevated work platforms.-
- Assist trade qualified personnel to undertake fault finding, diagnosis, repair and reporting.-
- Assist trade qualified personnel to erect, maintain, repair, adjust, construct, install, renew, inspect and modify the traction overhead, HV AC transmission and electrolysis overhead network.-
- Assist trade qualified personnel to perform live electrical work on the traction overhead, including live electrical switching operations.-
- Undertake manual handling and small plant operation.-
- Operate road vehicles, small plant and other specialised vehicles (e.g. hi-rail EWPs).**About you**:
- Committed to completing Certificate III in ESI - Power Systems - Rail Traction.-
- Committed to completing a Rail Safety competency, in accordance with Metro Trains Safety procedure.-
- Willing to work shift work on a 24-hour, 7 day a week roster.-
- Able to follow instructions, with the confidence to ask for help or guidance when necessary.-
- Confident working unsupervised.-
- Hold a current Victorian manual driver's licence - preferred.**Ready to apply? Great**
